1. Number of Foreign Tourist arrivals in India 6.29 million (2011). 



2.  Major Tourist Attractions


Over hundreds of attractions are present throughout India due to the various religions, climates, and diversity in flora and fauna. Every state and UT of India is flooded with rich history. The top 10 attractions are the backwaters of Kerala, Lake Palace, Virupaksha Temple, Palolem, Kanha National Park, Harmandar Sahib, Jaisalmer, Ajanta Caves, Varanasi, and the Taj Mahal.

3. India has 166 authorized national parks and over 500 wildlife sanctuaries; thus, India is famous for its diversity in wildlife.

4. Apart from nature, India is also famous for its museums. The museums with the most tourists are the Indian Museum, Karnataka Museum, Prince of Wales, and Stock Palace Museum.
